Ghiotto brought a sixth and a tenth place finish home for Campos Vexatec Racing at Monza. Nissany’s high hopes evaporated due to two race incidents
Campos Vexatec Racing collected more points at FIA Formula 2’s round in Italy with Luca Ghiotto making it into the top ten twice at Monza. Roy Nissany showed excellent progress at the wheel of the Dallara F2 2018 once again and almost got points again as was the case at Spa-Francorchamps. But Nissany got involved in two clashes and it ruined his chances.
Ghiotto posted the 5th-fastest lap time in free practice session and took the 8th spot later in qualifying with a lap of 1m32.446s. On the other hand, Nissany set to start from row 8 by setting a lap of 1m32.801s in his Campos Vexatec Racing-run Dallara F2 2018.
Saturday’s feature race saw Ghiotto moving up to seventh at the beginning in close fight with Lando Norris. Nissany’s amazing race start put him in ninth place. However, Nissany’s chances evaporated thanks to front wing damage. Up the front, Ghiotto was running in the top-ten to take the checkered flag in tenth place.
On Sunday, Ghiotto passed three cars at the start and still gained another place when he moved past Alex Albon. Nissany also made it in the top-ten but another clash with a rival damaged his front wing in a repetition of his bad luck on Saturday. After the unscheduled pit stop, Nissany ended up 15th.
The FIA Formula 2’s next event will take place at Sochi (Russia) on 29-30 September.
