Campos Racing completed a strong weekend at Spa-Francorchamps with Karkosik stepping onto the podium on Sunday. Siebert finished fourth and debutant Baltas came fifth in Rookies’ class

Campos Racing enjoyed a successful weekend during Euroformula F3 Open’s Round 3 at Spa-Francorchamps. The Spain-based team achieved a brilliant podium finish with Polish Alex Karkosik, who finished second on Sunday. Marcos Siebert was also protagonist during the weekend and Yves Baltas, on his first appearance at Spa-Francorchamps, delivered competitive performances throughout the weekend.

Karkosik and Siebert finished Friday’s free practice sessions in the top-five, making a strong start to the weekend. On Saturday, Siebert clocked a time of 2m12.976s to take third on the starting grid for race 1. Karkosik qualified fifth with a best lap time of 2m13.353s and Baltas was 5th-fastest rookie driver with his time of 2m14.665s.

Unfortunately, race one didn’t bring good results because both Karkosik and Baltas were eliminated on the first lap due to an accident. Siebert was fighting for the lead when a clash with another car damaged his front wing and was forced to pit. After rejoining the race, the Argentinean driver posted the fastest lap.

On Sunday, Karkosik claimed second place in Q2 with a lap time 2m13.752s but he was given a three-place grid demotion after his crash the previous day. So, Siebert was the best classified driver of Campos Racing on the starting grid, 3rd with a lap time of 2m14.118s. Baltas qualified on seventh row with a lap time of 2m16.223s.

Siebert and Karkosik made a good race start running in third and fourth place respectively at the beginning. By the halfway point, Karkosik moved up to second after passing Siebert and Bent Viscaal. Karkosik made it to the finish in second place with Siebert taking the checkered flag in fourth place. Baltas ended up fifth in the “rookie” class.

The next event will take place on 7-8 July at the Hungaroring.
