Corsican driver came fourth and fifth with his Campos Racing-entered Chevy RML Cruze TC1 at Circuit Paul Ricard
John Filippi emerged as a protagonist in the WTCC Trophy, as the World Touring Car Championship kicked off at Circuit Paul Ricard (France) this weekend. The blue and green #27 car entered by Campos Racing played a key role among the privateers.
After Friday´s test session, in which Filippi set fifth fastest time, the Frenchman still improved on Saturday morning during both free practice sessions signing 3rd (1:34.033), in rain-hit session, and 4th (1:31.533) among WTCC Trophy contenders. Later, in qualifying session, was 5th fastest by posting a lap time of 1:30.985.
Filippi avoided incidents during eventful races and came fifth in Race 1 / Opening Race and moved up to fourth in Race 2 / Main Race, only twenty-four thousandths behind Tom Coronel.
WTCC Race of Slovakia will take place in two weeks´ time.
