The young Italian karter is another addition for this season’s title defense in the Formula 4-based racing series. De Palo is one of the most remarkable young talents on the international motorsport scene
Campos Racing is proud to confirm that Matteo de Palo will step up to single-seater racing with one of its Tatuus T-021 cars to contest the 2023 F4 Spain Championship season. Italian de Palo is the fifth driver confirmed by Campos Racing as he will join previously announced Jesse Carrasquedo Jr, Noah Strømsted, Enzo Deligny and Andrés Cárdenas, they all at the wheel of Tatuus-Alfa Romeo machinery.
De Palo, aged 15, was born in Rome and made his karting debut in 2016, when he already took part in the renowned Trofeo Andrea Margutti in 60 Mini class. More recently, the Italian youngster finished third in the 2019 WSK – Super Master Series at La Conca and finished second in the Academy Trophy in 2020. In the last two years, de Palo continued delivering strong performances in OK-Junior and OK on an international level. In fact, thanks to his karting results he joined the Ferrari Driver Academy Scouting in Maranello last year, alongside other talents selected by the ACI (Automobile Club d’Italia) and the “Prancing Horse” brand.
Campos Racing and its drivers will continue carrying out its testing programme in the coming weeks ahead of the F4 Spain’s curtain raiser event at Spa-Francorchamps on 5-7 May.
Adrián Campos (Team Principal of Campos Racing): “I would like to extend a warm welcome to Matteo (de Palo). He showed his talent and speed immediately after his first outing with the F4 car. So we are looking forward to starting the new season to see him fighting for top honors. We are sure he will be right on the ball despite this year will be his debut single-seater season.”
Matteo de Palo (Driver of Campos Racing in F4 Spain): “I’m very happy to begin this new chapter of my career in single seaters with such an iconic team as Campos Racing, with whom I feel proud to be part of and I’ll do my best to deserve this seat. I want to thank Campos Racing for this opportunity, Pro Racing Motorsport Management for helping me to drive for Campos Racing and Mixauto for supporting me.”
