A legacy built on performance.
Campos Racing was officially formed in 1997. Adrián Campos Motorsport joined the “Open Fortuna by Nissan”. Adrián elected Marc Gené, and the young and promising Karting driver Antonio García. Gené was the champion in that very first season and he made his jump to Formula 1. Garcia finished in fifth position and the team won the title.

European Formula 3
Early single-seater years
Adrián starts competing in Spain and steps into European Formula 3, building the foundations of a career defined by discipline and resilience.
1984 – 1985
European F3 with Volkswagen
Monza Lottery GP win
In 1984, Adrián Campos began his professional journey as a Volkswagen driver. In his debut season in the European Formula 3 Championship, he claimed victory at the prestigious Monza Lottery Grand Prix held at Autodromo Nazionale Monza one of the most iconic events of the category. The following year, he continued his progression by finishing third in the German Formula 3 Championship, further establishing himself within the European single-seater scene.

F-3000 · Lola Factory
And Tyrrell F1 test driver
In 1986, Adrián took the next step by competing in Formula 3000, securing a contract with the Lola Cars factory team for the final two rounds of the championship. He delivered promising performances, scoring his first points in the closing race of the season at the Circuito del Jarama. At the same time, the Formula 1 team Tyrrell Racing offered him a contract as a test driver, marking his first direct link to the pinnacle of motorsport.
1987 – 1988
Formula 1 with Minardi
Spain’s first F1 driver of a generation
In 1987, Adrián Campos stepped into Formula 1 with Minardi, becoming one of the first Spanish drivers to compete in the category. He continued with the team in 1988, facing the challenges of a highly demanding environment. However, midway through the season, he chose to step away from Formula 1, frustrated by a car whose extreme mechanical fragility prevented him from fully demonstrating his potential.
1994 – 1997
Champion · Endurance
Alfa Romeo · Le Mans with Ferrari
After a brief period away from competition, Adrián returned to the track in the Spanish Touring Car Championship (CET), where he became champion in 1994 as an official Alfa Romeo driver. In 1997, he brought his driving career to a close by competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a Ferrari 333SP prototype. It was at that moment that Campos chose to revive a project he had first envisioned back in 1983 the creation of his own racing team. Campos Racing was officially founded in 1997.
