Goethe set the fastest lap time of both days in his Campos Racing-run Dallara F3 machinery. Boya also finished solidly in the top-5 in every session with Montoya making remarkable progress this week
Campos Racing kept momentum at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which hosted a two-day post-season test of FIA Formula 3. Oliver Goethe, Mari Boya and Sebas Montoya showed top pace in every qualifying and race simulation carried out in Montmeló this week.
On Tuesday, Boya clocked the third-fastest time with a lap of 1m27.113s, a mere half-a-tenth slower than the quickest one. Goethe also made a strong start in the morning session by posting a lap of 1m27.182s to finish 6th in the timesheets. Montoya’s best effort of 1m27.605s was worth enough to make into the top-12 as well. In the afternoon, with warmer temperatures, nobody else could improve times. Anyway, Campos Racing and their drivers ran in competitive lap times under the circumstances. Boya scored a lap time of 1m28.556s and took 4th in the standings with Goethe two places adrift with a lap time of 1m28.656s. Montoya stopped the clock on 1m29.040s.
Day 2 proved to be similarly positive for Campos Racing as Goethe topped the morning session. Denmark’s Goethe set the fastest lap time of two days and was the single driver to break the 1m27s barrier with his lap of 1m26.675s. Boya put together a lap of 1m27.261s and took 4th place in the standings at the end of the morning. Montoya also ran in 1m27s with a lap of 1m27.652s to his name. In the afternoon, the second session saw another strong performance coming from the whole team as all the three drivers finished in the top-4. Boya clocked a lap time of 1m28.810s and took 2nd place with Goethe and Montoya in third and fourth respectively with lap time of 1m29.052s and 1m29.222s.
A third post-season test will take place at Imola on 23-24 October.
