The third post-season testing of the FIA Formula 3 Championship saw another excellent showing coming from Boya, Goethe and Montoya
Campos Racing enjoyed another successful two-day post-season testing of FIA Formula 3 at Imola’s Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari. The Valencia-based racing team entered their three Dallara F3 cars for Mari Boya, Oliver Goethe and Sebas Montoya, the same young, competitive driver line-up already seen in Jerez and Barcelona. The trio managed to put more mileage under their belt and carried out different qualifying and race simulations, which delivered very productive results.
On Monday, Spaniard Boya posted a lap of 1m30.966s in the closing minutes of the morning session to secure 2nd place in the timesheets, a mere 20 thousandths of a second slower than the pacesetter. German-Danish Goethe rounded out the top-5 with his personal best lap of 1m31.193s. In the afternoon, lap times further improved and both Goethe and Boya made it into the top-5. Goethe put together a lap of 1m30.519s to take 2nd-fastest time and Boya finished in fourth place with a lap of 1m30.829s to his name. Montoya set a competitive lap time of 1m31.566s in the second session.
Day 2 brought mixed weather conditions. In the morning, all the drivers had the chance to run on slick tires. At the end of the first session, Goethe ended 2nd-fasstest in the standings with a lap of 1m30.519s. His Spaniard teammate Boya took 4th in standings with a lap time 1m30.829s. Montoya stopped the clock on 1m31.566s. In the afternoon, rain finally came and it was useful to gather more data on wet asphalt. Goethe was the fastest man in Campos Racing colors with a lap of 1m42.122s. Boya posted a best time of 1m43.060s and Montoya put together a lap of 1m45.682s.
Campos Racing will now analyze the vast amount of data generated in the post-season testing to continue working towards the 2024 FIA F3 season.
