Goethe will face the challenge of scoring points for the seventh consecutive meeting while staying in the title fight. Boya and Montoya aim to recover after a tough weekend in Austria
Campos Racing continues its journey through the most critical part of the 2024 FIA Formula 3 season, which includes five meetings in just over a month. After Barcelona and Spielberg, the only Spanish team in the category will head to Great Britain this weekend, with visits to Hungaroring and Spa-Francorchamps still to come this July.
Oliver Goethe, Mari Boya, and Sebas Montoya will once again get behind the wheel of the Dallara machinery entered by Campos Racing with the same goal as in previous races: to place in the top positions of the standings. "Ollie" is currently the best-ranked driver from Campos Racing. The German-Danish driver, part of the Red Bull Junior team, is the only driver on the grid who has scored points in all twelve races so far. Goethe is seventh in the overall standings with 77 points, thanks to one win, two podiums, and nine other point-scoring finishes.
As for Boya and Montoya, both will be aiming to get back in the points after a challenging weekend in Spielberg a few days ago. Boya has already tasted success, having won the Saturday race in Barcelona. Boya, currently eleventh in the overall standings, has scored points on six other occasions, including a fastest lap in Melbourne. Finally, Montoya can only be described as the comeback driver, with some memorable recoveries to score points in Australia, Monaco, and Barcelona. At the Red Bull Ring, where the Colombian achieved his best qualifying result to date, his progress was halted by incidents in both races, forcing him to retire.
In the team standings, Campos Racing is in fifth place with 129 points.
Silverstone, one of the most renowned circuits globally, is a must-stop for FIA Formula 3 each season. 2024 will be no exception, promising another challenging race weekend. Despite the cars usually running high downforce due to the significant number of high-speed corners, rubber wear and degradation are also notable due to the mechanical grip that Silverstone demands from the tires.
Free practice and qualifying will take place on Friday at 09:40 and 15:10, respectively. The Sprint race will be held on Saturday at 10:20, while the Feature race on Sunday is scheduled for 09:20. All times are in Spanish time zone.
Adrián Campos (Team Principal of Campos Racing): “Silverstone is always a special moment in the season because it is one of the most historic circuits on the calendar. This year, we have already experienced victory with two of our drivers, so we hope to fight for the podium once again with all of them. Silverstone has always been good for us; in fact, we were on the podium twice there last year. We have a really competitive car in all conditions, even in the changing weather expected this weekend, with a possibility of both dry and wet conditions.”
Oliver Goethe (Campos Racing Driver in FIA Formula 3): “Can’t wait to race around Silverstone again this year. It is definitely one of my favorite tracks on the calendar and last year was very successful for me winning the feature race. I’ll do my best to replicate that this year and score some big points to fight for the championship!”
Mari Boya (Campos Racing Driver in FIA Formula 3): “I really like Silverstone. Our goal will be to put together a good qualifying session to start up the front in order to fight for similar results to those in Barcelona.”
Sebastián Montoya (Campos Racing Driver in FIA Formula 3): “Really excited for Silverstone this weekend, it’s a very fast track where the team was very strong last year. I’m sure we will have very good speed and hopefully we can have a bit of luck to capitalize.”
