The Albert Park Circuit in Australia will host the first two races of an exciting 2025 campaign this weekend, in which Campos Racing and its drivers will once again fight for the category titles

The wait is over. The 2025 FIA Formula 2 season will officially kick off this weekend on the streets of the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, coinciding with the opening round of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. As such, the Australian Grand Prix will attract the attention of motorsport fans worldwide, eager to witness the start of the "Grand Circus."
Campos Racing aims to establish itself as a key contender in FIA Formula 2 with a young and talented duo: Spanish ace Pepe Martí and British driver Arvid Lindblad, who will take the wheel of the F2 cars sporting Red Bull colors. The Alzira-based team secured the runner-up spot last year in both the drivers' championship, thanks to Isack Hadjar, and the teams' standings.
For Martí, this will be his second season in the category after an impressive debut in 2024. The Sabadell-born driver finished the year in style by winning at Yas Marina Circuit, in addition to securing three other podiums: two second places in Spielberg and Sakhir, and a third place also in Sakhir. With the experience gained last season, Martí is one of the strongest contenders on the current FIA F2 grid and will aim to prove it from the very first race. Moreover, he is no stranger to success at Albert Park Circuit, having performed brilliantly there in previous visits in both FIA F2 and FIA F3.
For Lindblad, this season marks his debut in FIA F2. However, he arrives with a strong track record from lower categories, including FIA F3 in 2024, where he was a title contender with four victories to his name. Like Martí, he is part of the Red Bull Junior Team and has participated in both the post-season tests at Yas Marina and the pre-season tests in Barcelona. Over these six days of testing, the British driver has had the opportunity to familiarize himself with the F2 car in both qualifying and race conditions.
The Albert Park Circuit was inaugurated in 1953, although it was not until 1996 that it became the venue for the Australian Grand Prix for the first time. Measuring 5,280 meters in length, the track runs around Albert Park Lake and is the heart of a renowned park. The latest modifications were made four years ago, but it retains its semi-street circuit character, with walls close to the asphalt in key areas such as Lakeside Drive corner. Some corners also feature gravel, meaning any off-track excursion or driving error can be costly. Most turns are medium- and high-speed, and while the asphalt is not particularly abrasive, tire management will be crucial.
Free practice and the qualifying session will take place on Friday at 00:00 and 07:30, respectively. On Saturday, the sprint race will begin at 04:15, while the main race on Sunday, featuring a mandatory pit stop for a tire change, will be held at 01:30. All times are in Spanish time zone.
Adrián Campos (Team Principal of Campos Racing): "We are very excited about this start to the 2025 season. We travel to Australia with full confidence in the work carried out during the collective tests in Yas Marina and Montmeló over six days of testing. Since the end of pre-season, our drivers and engineers have analyzed all the data collected, and our goal is to translate that solid foundation into results. It is essential to start the season well to generate positive momentum. Last year, we won the Sunday race, so we know we have a very competitive package in Melbourne. After securing the runner-up positions in 2024, we are determined to take that final step in 2025."
Arvid Lindblad (Campos Racing driver in FIA Formula 2): "First round of the F2 championship here in Melbourne. Came here for the first time in F3, it’s a very challenging track, semi-street circuit and a big variety of corners you can make a difference. I’m not going into the weekend with too many expectations, there’s going to be a lot to learn and many new experiences. But the team delivered amazing performance here last year which fills me with a lot of confidence that we have a really good debut weekend."
