South-African Hyman is joining Campos Racing driver lineup to partner with Vivacqua, Iorio and Laaksonen at the Hungaroring
Campos Racing will enter their four Dallara F312 cars for next weekend’s event at the Hungaroring once again. South-African Raoul Hyman will replace Petru Florescu as the latter and Campos Racing yesterday announced a parting of ways. Hyman will team up with the Brazilian duo formed by Thiago Vivacqua and Matheus Iorio and Finnish Simo Laaksonen. Hyman will make his debut in the Euroformula Open but his vast experience in various types of open-wheel series, particularly in Formula 3-based championships, will be a great addition to the team in Hungary.
Vivacqua secured two podium finishes at the Circuito do Estoril and the Circuit Paul Ricard. In the same way, his fellow countryman also stepped onto the Euroformula Open rostrum for the first time in Portugal. On the other hand, Laaksonen is also on the verge of his first rookie podium in the series after scoring regular points from the start.
Hungaroring, which is known colloquially as “Monaco without the walls”, is a fertile ground for Campos Racing. In their two previous visits to Budapest in the series in 2012 and 2014, the Alzira-based team earned two wins, a second place and a third place.
After two days devoted to private testing and free practice sessions, Q1 will take place on Saturday at 10.10 (CET). Race 1 is due to begin at 15.15 (CET). On Sunday, and following Q2 at 08.30 (CET), race 2 is scheduled at 13.15.
