Campos Racing drivers failed to score any points in both eventful races held at Red Bull Ring but made solid progress over the weekend for the upcoming events
It was a very challenging weekend for Campos Racing and its GP3 Series drivers at Red Bull Ring. Spain´s Álex Palou, Russia´s Konstantin Tereschenko and Netherlands´ Steijn Schothorst proved they have the speed but need the luck. At the same time, the three cars running under Campos Racing banner proved fast in the dry and in the wet.
In qualifying, Palou spearheaded Campos Racing charge by setting a lap time of 1:20.309 ahead of Schothorst (1:20.378). Tereschenko was not far behind with a lap time of 1:20.651.
Saturday´s race started dry but with six laps to go raindrops started to fall. It brought chaos but Palou, who gained four places on lap one, managed to bring his Dallara home in 14th. Tereschenko and Schothorst finished one lap down due to several incidents with Russia´s driver being hit by a rival and running his chances to improve his result.
On Sunday, race was declared wet due to heavy rain. Tereschenko spun into the gravel but Palou and Schothorst improved their previous results in a heavily safety car-affected race as it led the pack 13 out of 18 laps. Spaniard Palou came 11th and Schothorst finished behind in 12th.
Now the series will head to Silverstone for round 3 next weekend.
