The second round of the Formula E, the all-electric series sanctioned by the FIA, has taken place today in Putrajaya. The Malaysian town has hosted the Putrajaya ePrix and the cars run by Campos Racing were among the favorites once again.
Qualifying wasn´t particularly good as Bruno Senna couldn´t improve 9th on the grid for Mahindra Racing and his teammate Nick Heidfeld, third in the season opener in Beijing, claimed 11th fastest. At NEXTEL TCR Formula E, both drivers had some problems and defending champion Brazil´s Nelson Piquet Jr. set 16th fastest and Briton Oliver Turvey 17th.
But things did improve later in the race, with the only exception of Turvey, who was forced to retire on lap five when hit the wall due to a stuck throttle. It brought the safety car out. After an incident-packed race with several leader changes and 33 laps, Senna came 5th for Mahindra Racing. Piquet Jr. after moving through the field finished 8th and scored some valuable points. Finally, Heidfeld brought 9th home and now lies 4th overall.
Now the FIA Formula E moves to South America, with Round 3 in Punta del Este (Uruguay) just before Christmas.
