The Argentinian driver finished third twice in the Euroformul Open at the Hungaroring with Baltas also securing a podium finish in “Rookies’” class. Karkosik finished sixth on Sunday after an early retirement in race 1
Campos Racing maintained podium presence in Round 4 of the Euroformula F3 Open at the Hungaroring. Marcos Siebert and Yves Baltas have added new podium finishes to Campos Racing rostrum tally in the series.
On Friday, Siebert was fastest for Campos Racing with a lap time of 1m36.609s during the free practice session. Besides, Polish Alex Karkosik took 4th on the timesheets with a best lap time of 1m37.316s. On Saturday morning, in a rain-marred Q1, American racer Baltas qualified 3rd with his1m48.702s with his teammates Siebert and Karkosik right behind with times of 1m48.896s and 1m49.337s.
In the afternoon, race 1 took place in dry conditions, and Siebert immediately gained a place by passing Baltas with Karkosik in fifth. Karkosik spun and hit the wall shortly after moving past Baltas. Unfortunately, Yves also was forced to serve a drive through penalty and dropped several places. At the end, Siebert took the checkered flag in third place with Baltas still put in a recovery drive to finish 7th and 2nd rookie driver.
On Sunday, Siebert took 6th spot on the starting grid for race 2 with a lap time of 1m36.494s and Karkosik and Baltas set to start from row 5 and 6 respectively. Siebert made an impressive start to overtake three cars and fended his rivals off to secure his second podium finish of the weekend. Karkosik moved through the field to finish 6th with Baltas 12th overall and 4th in class.
After the summer break, the Euroformula Open resumes at Silverstone on 1-2 September.
