Corsica´s driver will contest the WTCC Race of Japan at the wheel of his Campos Racing-entered Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 as the “Asian season” kicks off at Motegi
The arrival of the World Touring Car Championship in Asia will mark the final part of the season and Campos Racing and its driver John Filippi will get new chances to shine. The WTCC Race of Japan at the Twin Ring Motegi is the first of three rounds in Asia ahead of the season finale in Qatar. The Japanese track made its first appearance on the calendar in 2015. Motegi features long straights and heavy breaking points and provides good chances of overtaking.
At the moment, Filippi ranks fourth in the WTCC Trophy on 64 points after scoring points in all but two races. Campos Racing also sits fourth in the WTCC Teams´ Trophy.
Chevrolet-built cars will carry 10 kg of ballast over the course of the weekend as per results of the events in Russia, Portugal and Argentina.
The qualifying session will take place on Saturday at 15.00. Then, on Sunday, both races are due to start at 14.35 (Opening race) and at 15.50 (Main race) on Sunday, local time.
