Corsican driver was in podium contention with his Chevrolet in the Race of Hungary
Campos Racing and John Filippi performed pretty well at Hungaroring, where the Race of Hungary was held last weekend. At the wheel of the Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 of the Spanish team, young touring car star Filippi qualified fourth in WTCC Trophy with his lap of 1:47.704 posted in Q1.
But if Hungaroring, the Monaco without the walls, is a challenging track in dry conditions, in wet weather it gets even more difficult. Both races were held in extremely wet conditions. Filippi, making no driving errors, completed both races and fought to the finish. In the Opening Race, Filippi finished 4th in the WTCC Trophy and also made it into the top-ten overall. In fact, he ran fourth overall as he chose the right tire for track conditions. Then, in the Main Race, Filippi took the chequered flag fourth among privateers drivers once again. Now, Filippi lies 4th in WTCC Trophy drivers´ standings.
The WTCC now heads to Morocco, where the fourth venue will take place in Marrakech in two weeks´ time.
