The FIA F3 Season Picks Up Speed in Sakhir

Inthraphuvasak, Tsolov, and Boya prepare for their second event of the 2025 FIA Formula 3 calendar. After a rain-soaked season opener in Melbourne, the second round of the 2025 FIA Formula 3 campaign promises a very different weekend under sunny skies and soaring temperatures

One month after the inaugural FIA Formula 3 round in Australia, the 2025 season is now hitting its stride with two back-to-back race weekends. The first of these takes place this weekend in Sakhir, followed just a few days later by the second in Jeddah. But first things first. With full focus on Bahrain, Campos Racing will field its trio of F3 cars for Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, Nikola Tsolov, and Mari Boya.

The championship’s debut in Melbourne brought two races under very different conditions compared to what’s expected in Sakhir—barring any major surprises. While rain was the key player Down Under, the spotlight in Bahrain is likely to be on the scorching heat, with temperatures exceeding thirty degrees Celsius.

One of last month’s standout performers was Thailand’s Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, who battled for podium positions in both Saturday and Sunday’s races. Inthraphuvasak secured a fourth and seventh-place finish, collecting 13 points in the overall standings. Tsolov and Boya were both affected by red flags during qualifying, which disrupted their fastest laps and forced them to start mid-pack. In the first race, the Bulgarian driver managed a strong comeback to eighth place, grabbing three points, but a puncture in the second race dashed his hopes. Boya also gained several positions across both races, narrowly missing out on the points-paying spots.

Sakhir is a track that all drivers on the grid know well. Just two weeks ago, the Bahrain International Circuit hosted three days of testing, during which Campos Racing drivers consistently ran at the front. Tsolov was the fastest on day one, with Boya topping the timesheets on day two. Inthraphuvasak also delivered a strong performance, staying close to the top in all conditions. As mentioned, the weekend's high temperatures could play a major role—especially when it comes to tire wear. Bahrain’s abrasive asphalt and traction-heavy layout make tire management a key factor in race outcomes.

Free practice and qualifying will both take place on Friday at 09:55 and 15:00 respectively (CET). The Sprint Race is scheduled for Saturday at 12:15, with the Feature Race set for Sunday at 11:55. All times are Spanish local time.

Adrián Campos (Team Principal of Campos Racing): "We head into this second FIA F3 round in Sakhir with great motivation, especially after the strong performance we showed in recent collective testing at this very circuit. The weekend often hinges on being among the top twelve in qualifying, which puts you in a position to fight for points in both races. So our goal is to qualify as high as possible to give our drivers a better chance of converting that into strong race results. We’re confident we can come away from Bahrain with a solid haul of points."
