The Campos Racing trio in the all-female championship, consisting of Chloe Chambers, Nerea Martí, and Carrie Schreiner, will compete at the Lusail International Circuit in the penultimate race of the season
After a two-month break since the last F1 Academy race in Singapore, the all-female championship resumes this weekend in Qatar for the sixth round of the 2024 season. Campos Racing will head to the Lusail International Circuit with drivers Chloe Chambers, Nerea Martí, and Carrie Schreiner. This circuit hosted a test session earlier this month, providing the drivers with their first experience on this unfamiliar track
With five meetings completed and only Qatar and Abu Dhabi remaining, Chambers and Martí are nearly tied in the driver standings. American Chloe Chambers, driving her Tatuus car in Haas F1 colors, is fourth with 104 points, while Spaniard Nerea Martí is just two points behind in fifth place.
Chambers won one of the races in Barcelona and finished third in another, replicating her results from her home race in Miami. Martí, from Valencia, has two second-place finishes in Montmeló and Zandvoort, and a third-place finish in Jeddah. Notably, both drivers have scored points in nine out of the ten races held so far, showcasing their consistency as drivers.
German driver Schreiner is in ninth place in the standings. As a member of the Sauber Academy, her best result this year is a sixth-place finish in the Netherlands. However, she is a regular in the points positions, having finished in the top ten seven times.
In the team standings, Campos Racing is third with 228 points.
The 5.419-meter Qatar circuit will present a new challenge for all the drivers, being a very fast track with high-speed corners requiring maximum mechanical and aerodynamic grip. Additionally, the abrasive asphalt will make tire management crucial over the weekend.
Track activity will begin on Friday with free practice sessions at 11:00 and 16:00. The qualifying session is scheduled for Saturday at 13:20, with the first race taking place that night at 21:05. The weekend will conclude with the second race on Sunday at 12:00. All times are in CET time.
Adrián Campos (Team Principal of Campos Racing): “It’s going to be an exciting weekend at a very technical circuit, both in terms of its layout and the fact that sand on the track changes the grip conditions from one session to another. In the collective tests a few weeks ago, our drivers were quite competitive, and we will fight to increase the number of victories and podiums achieved so far.”
Chloe Chambers (Campos Racing Driver in F1 Academy): “Excited to be back racing this weekend in Qatar after a long break! The pace was solid at the test so I’m feeling good heading into the final two rounds. The fight for third in the standings is close and that’s what I’ll be aiming for to end out the year!”
Nerea Martí (Campos Racing Driver in F1 Academy): "I am very excited about the last two events of the season. We have prepared very well for both circuits, both in the simulator and during collective testing. We are going to work hard to come back strong and fight for that top-3 in the championship."
Carrie Schreiner (Campos Racing Driver in F1 Academy): “I’m really looking forward for the upcoming race weekend in Qatar. I expect to translate into results all I’ve learnt over the whole year. I want to take the most out of this weekend.”
