Nerea Martí, Chloe Chambers, and Carrie Schreiner will face the final hours of the current season in the United Arab Emirates, with the addition of a third race following the cancellation of Sunday's race in Qatar
The curtain will fall on the 2024 F1 Academy season this coming weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit, with the presence on track once again of Campos Racing's three drivers: Spanish Nerea Martí, American Chloe Chambers, and German Carrie Schreiner. All of them will strive to climb once again to the top positions in the all-female championship. As a novelty, the format of a meeting with three races is restored, with one added to replace the canceled race last Sunday in Qatar.
After six of the seven scheduled events this year, Valencian Martí occupies fourth place in the drivers' standings with 105 points, thanks to two second-place finishes in Barcelona and Zandvoort, plus a third place in Jeddah. Considering that she has finished in the points in ten of the eleven races to date, she positions herself as one of the most consistent drivers on the F1 Academy grid.
North American Chambers will also want to close the year in the best possible way, heading to the UAE encouraged after not being able to finish in the points last weekend in Qatar. Chambers, who races with Haas F1 colors on her single-seater, won the Sunday race held in Montmeló and climbed to the third step of the podium in both Miami and the other Spanish race.
German Schreiner will also want to redeem herself at Yas Island after not scoring points at the Lusail International Circuit. The Sauber Academy driver will aim for her best result of the current season and put the best possible finish to her season.
In the team standings, Campos Racing is in third place with 232 points.
The Yas Marina Circuit will pose another new and challenging test for the drivers, with its 5,281 meters in length and a succession of linked corners that make it incredibly technical from a driving perspective.
Track activity will begin on Friday with free practice at 06:50. Meanwhile, the qualifying session is scheduled for that same afternoon at 15:35. On Saturday, the first race is set for 9:15, while the second will be at 17:15. Sunday will bring the curtain down on the weekend's program with the third and final race of the year at 08:15. All times are in Spanish time zone.
Adrián Campos (Team Principal of Campos Racing): "We want to end the year with the best possible results and we will give our one hundred percent so that our drivers are among those fighting for the podium. We will try to get the most points possible to see if we can climb positions in the overall standings."
Nerea Martí (Campos Racing Driver in F1 Academy): "Really looking forward to the last round of the year in Abu Dhabi. The test here was very positive, so we’re going to work hard with the goal of finishing in the top-3. We’ll have three races, so we have a chance to fight for it. Let’s enjoy the last event together with the whole Campos team."
Chloe Chambers (Campos Racing Driver in F1 Academy): "Back on track again only a week after Qatar. Qatar wasn’t our weekend starting with a poor qualifying performance and the canceled race two, but I showed good race craft and race pace which was a positive. From our testing in Abu Dhabi, the pace was good and consistent so I’m looking to improve on my qualifying performance, especially since we now have three races this weekend to catch back up to P3 in the standings. Last one of this year, let’s make it a good one!"
