The South-Korean driver boasts plenty of experience in different single-seater categories ahead of his debut in the 2024 Eurocup-3 Championship season
Campos Racing is delighted to announce that South-Korean driver Michael Shin has been added to its roster to contest the 2024 Eurocup-3 Championship season. Shin will team up with previously confirmed drivers Christian Ho, Valentin Kuss, Noah Lisle and Suleiman Zanfari, a nice mix of young blood, talent and experience to fight for top honors in the Pan-European series.
Shin was born in Seoul on 23 August 2004. Following a brief experience in karting in his home country, Shin moved to Europe at the end of 2021 to start testing with different single-seater machinery ahead of his debut in the Formula 4 UAE Championship and the F4 British Championship in 2022. The South-Korean driver achieved his maiden win in the British series during that first year. Besides, Shin represented his country in the FIA Motorsport Games later that season.
The new signing of Campos Racing stepped up to the British-based GB3 Championship in 2023. Simultaneously, Shin also contested the Formula Regional Middle East Championship in which he was able to climb to the podium. More recently, he has taken part in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship in which the South-Korean driver put himself regularly in rostrum contention.
The 2024 Eurocup-3 season will consist of eight double-header events, three in Spain and five abroad. The season will kick off at Spa-Francorchamps (19-20 April) and later visiting F1-rated circuits such as Red Bull Ring (17-19 May), Algarve (7-9 June), Paul Ricard (5-7 July) and Zandvoort (13-14 July). The busy month of July will come to an end at Motorland Aragón on 26-28 July, just before the summer break. The season will resume in Jerez (27-29 September) and Barcelona will bring the curtain down on 8-10 November.
Adrián Campos (Campos Racing Team Principal): “I would like to warmly welcome on behalf of Campos Racing to Michael. It’s a fantastic addition to our Eurocup-3 programme and the icing on the cake to put together an extremely talented driver line-up. Despite his youth, Michael has plenty of experience in different single-seater series. I have no doubts that he will be extremely competitive in the Eurocup-3 and a key player in our title bid.”
Michael Shin (Campos Racing Driver in Eurocup-3): “To join Campos Racing for the 2024 Eurocup 3 season will be a great opportunity for me. They are a very strong team and provide an excellent environment for the drivers to grow. It will also be a valuable step in my career as I get to learn the European circuits that I will be racing on in the future. We have an exciting season ahead of us, and I am looking forward to our first race.”
