The Singaporean driver arrives at the final event of the season in second place in the championship, positioning himself as a clear title contender. The Campos Racing lineup will be completed by Kluss, Shin, Carrasquedo Jr., and Lisle, all aiming to finish the year on a high note
The 2024 Eurocup-3 season, which began in April, concludes this coming weekend at the superb Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Similar to last year, when a driver from the Alzira-based team claimed the championship, Singaporean Christian Ho has a chance to secure the title in this continental series. Valentin Kluss, Michael Shin, Jesse Carrasquedo Jr., and Noah Lisle will be driving the other four Tatuus F3 T-318 Alfa Romeo-Autotecnica cars for Campos Racing.
It will be an emotional weekend for the entire team following the tragic events of the DANA storm that severely affected the metropolitan area of Valencia. In tribute and remembrance of all the victims and those impacted by this natural disaster, the Campos Racing cars will display a flag of the Valencian Community with a black ribbon.
Ho is currently second in the championship with 202 points, trailing leader Javier Sagrera by twenty-six points, with fifty-four points still up for grabs in Montmeló. Ho is the driver with the most victories to date, with a total of four wins at Algarve (twice), Paul Ricard, and Jerez. Additionally, he has secured two second places and has always finished in the points except on one occasion, making him the best rookie in the standings. Barcelona is a favourite circuit for Ho, where he ended last year's F4 Spain season with three wins for Campos Racing.
German driver Kluss has been another pleasant surprise in his debut Eurocup-3 season. Kluss is currently fifth in the drivers' standings with 109 points and is the second-best rookie after his teammate Ho. His best result is a second place in Algarve, along with two third-place finishes at the same circuit and in Zandvoort. Another driver with several podium finishes is Shin. The South Korean, seventh in the standings, has finished third on four occasions, including a double podium in the penultimate event at Jerez. Shin aims to end his season on a high in Barcelona.
Carrasquedo Jr. joined Campos Racing midway through the season in Le Castellet and immediately showcased his talent with a third-place finish. His first victory came just before the summer break at Motorland Aragón. The Mexican driver will be another one to watch, with clear intentions of tasting victory again. Lastly, Lisle has achieved three top-5 finishes as his best results so far, and the Australian will surely be aiming to give his best in the season finale.
Campos Racing is currently second in the teams' standings with 394 points.
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is one of the most familiar tracks for any driver due to the numerous championships and events held in the Catalan capital. Inaugurated in 1991, it has been the venue for the Spanish F1 Grand Prix since then, and its 4.657 kilometers usually produce thrilling races. The track features slightly higher than average aerodynamic load and high tire wear due to the lateral forces in its medium and high-speed corners.
Drivers will face free practice on Saturday at 09:45, with the first qualifying session scheduled for 12:30. Later that afternoon, Race 1 will start at 15:00, with an estimated duration of 30 minutes plus one lap. On Sunday, the second qualifying session will take place at 09:30, followed by Race 2 at 11:45, also 30 minutes plus one lap. Both races will be streamed live on the Eurocup-3 YouTube channel.
Adrián Campos (Team Principal of Campos Racing): "It will be a very tough weekend for all of us after the tragic events we've experienced in Valencia over the past two weeks. Our thoughts are with all the victims and those affected by the DANA, and our cars will carry a tribute to all of them. On the sporting side, we are eagerly anticipating the two races that will decide the title. We will support Christian in his fight to close the gap in the standings and hope to finish a great season for Christian alongside his teammates Valentin, Michael, Jesse, and Noah."
Christian Ho (Campos Racing Driver in Eurocup-3): “Looking forward to this weekend as it is the last race of the championship and the championship decider. I think there are no expectations for myself as we are quite far back in the championship but my goal is always the same and it is to try and win everything.”
