Ghiotto brought fifth and sixth place finishes home in the FIA Formula 2 round at Silverstone. Nissany continued making progress in the series
Campos Vexatec Racing and Italian Luca Ghiotto completed a strong weekend of FIA Formula 2 at Silverstone. Ghiotto made it into the top five during Saturday’s feature race with mandatory pit stop and take 6th place during Sunday’s sprint race. Roy Nissany continues making progress to higher tiers in the main Formula 1 feeder series.
After a sixth place finish in the free practice session, Ghiotto was ninth faster with a lap time of 1m40.707s. Nissany experienced engine issues and the Israeli couldn’t complete a single flying lap and it forced him to start from the back.
Ghiotto and Nissany started Saturday’s feature race on the softer compound. Ghiotto pitted on lap 8 with Nissany – who gained a place overtaking Santino Ferrucci- making his mandatory pit stop three laps later. Ghiotto’s pit strategy proved to be the right choice and the Italian driver passed in front of Sergio Sette Camara. However, Deletraz retook fourth place and Ghiotto finally ended up fifth. Nissany made it to the finish in 15th place.
On Sunday, Ghiotto held fourth at the start but he lost two places when Antonio Fuoco and Deletraz overtook him. Ghiotto avoided several race incidents to take sixth place for Campos Vexatec Racing at the end. Nissany came home with another 15th place.
Hungaroring will play host to Round 8 on 28-29 July.
