The victory was extremely important for Tereschenko, as he will have a final shot for title tomorrow. Menchaca came fifth and first rookie driver
Konstantin Tereschenko and Campos Racing claimed another race win at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where the Euroformula Open comes to an end.
It was a positive start to the weekend as in the morning as Tereschenko cruised to pole position with his Campos Racing-entered Dallara F312. Once again, Tereschenko showed a stunning pace to beat Yu Kanamaru by almost a tenth of a second. Another driver of Campos Racing, México´s Diego Menchaca, managed to move into third spot in qualifying. Behind, Henrique Baptista qualified 13th and Ahmad Al Ghanem 18th.
Tereschenko kept his nerve on the start and led the race from the very beginning. Although Kanamaru was putting pressure on Tereschenko, the Russian racer didn´t make a single mistake and after 17 laps crossed the finish line first to claim fifth win of the season. Unfortunately he missed the fastest lap by a narrow margin.
Behind, Menchaca finished fifth after losing two places on the opening lap. Still, the Mexican completed a solid race to re-emerge as a winning force among the rookie drivers.
Kuwaiti Al Ghanem came 14th and Baptista retired from the race on lap 12 following an unscheduled pit stop to change left front tire.
Sunday´s race is due to start at 13.00 (local time).
