Oriola and Filippi will be behind the wheel of the two Cupra León TCR cars in the FIA World Touring Car Cup, which kicks off its 2018 season next weekend at Circuit Moulay El Hassan
Team Oscaro by Campos Racing will be making its debut in the WTCR, which stands for FIA World Touring Car Cup, and it will steer into a new era as the TCR-specifications cars are now the main tin-top championship. Team Oscaro by Campos Racing, which entered the World Touring Car Championship on a full-time basis in 2013 for the first time, continues participating in the best touring-car series in the world.
Team Oscaro by Campos Racing will run the two Cupra León TCR cars with Pepe Oriola and John Filippi at the wheel, they both extremely experienced in touring car racing. Oriola made his debut in the WTCC back in 2011 and won his first race two years later in Marrakech. More recently, he contested the TCR International Series and finished Vice-Champion in 2015. On the other hand, Filippi is another emerging touring car star with numerous podiums to his name.
During the WTCR’s official testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya last week, the Team Oscaro by Campos Racing-entered cars topped both sessions. Filippi clocked a time of 1m54.443s in the afternoon. Oriola led the way in the morning with a lap of 1m54.698s. The team feels extremely optimistic ahead of the season start at Circuit Moulay El Hassan with its strong performance in preseason testing.
