The Macau Guia Street Circuit will host the season finale of the 2018 World Touring Car Cup next weekend with Team Oscaro by Campos Racing entering their two CUPRA TCR cars for title contender Oriola and Filippi
Team Oscaro by Campos Racing and the young driver line-up of Pepe Oriola and John Filippi will contest the final round of the FIA WTCR, which takes place at the Macau Guia Race. Spaniard Oriola and Corsican Filippi expect competitive form throughout the weekend in their CUPRA TCR cars.
Oriola currently sits fourth on 227 points and still has a mathematical chance to win the title. Besides, the young Spanish ace is always extremely competitive in street circuits and already stepped onto the podium in Macau a few years ago. Filippi aims at finishing the season with strong results.
The 6.120 kilometer layout is often described as the most challenging and difficult circuit in motorsports with its narrow streets surrounded by high walls and fences. Macau literally doesn’t have room even for small mistakes. At the same time, the layout also features wide-open straights in which a balanced car is necessary to be competitive. Besides, the circuit has a huge racing pedigree as hosted its first race in 1972.
Saturday’s race 1 is scheduled at 14.25 with two other races on Sunday at 08.20 and 11.00. All times are local.
