Boschung and Visoiu will contest Round 5 of the FIA Formula 2 and their goal is to move along on the same positive path as the previous round in Azerbaijan. Campos Racing secured pole position and points in Baku
In the heat of summer, the FIA Formula 2 Championship has scheduled three events in four weeks’ time. The summer sprint kicks off at the Red Bull Ring, the jewel in the Austrian Styrian Mountains, next weekend. In the frame of the Grand Prix of Austria, both races will be another challenge for the young duo of Campos Racing: Romanian Robert Visoiu and Swiss Ralph Boschung.
The pair of young aces racing under the Campos Racing banner completed a strong weekend at the Baku City Circuit. Boschung started from the pole position on Sunday and scored good points in the feature race. Visoiu picked up speed immediately after making his comeback in the main Formula 1 feeder series. Unlike Baku, both drivers have previous experience at the Red Bull Ring.
Located in Spielberg, the Red Bull Ring was a fertile ground for the Alzira-based team in recent times. Campos Racing grabbed a Sunday’s sprint race in 2015 and secured a 1-2 finish last year on Saturday thanks to some brave pit strategy. The circuit was founded as Österreichring as still has the character of the old times. The first two sectors head into a final sector being slower and technically-demanding. Besides, tire degradations is often low but weather conditions usually also take a key role.
After a Friday devoted to free practice and qualifying sessions, Saturday’s feature race takes place at 15.35 (CET). On Sunday, the sprint race is scheduled at 10.20 (CET).
