Siebert finished fourth and fifth at Silverstone with Poland’s Karkosik taking a fourth place finish on Saturday. Baltas secured two Rookie podiums
Campos Racing contested the Round 5 of the 2018 Euroformula F3 Open at Silverstone with their three Dallara F312 cars driven by Marcos Siebert, Alex Karkosik and Yves Baltas. Broadly speaking, it was a positive meeting and the drivers racing under the Spain-based team showed excellent competitiveness.
Siebert made an excellent start to the weekend as he was fastest for Campos Racing in the free practice sessions. On Saturday, Karkosik led the charge of Campos Racing by taking the fourth spot on the grid with a lap time of 1m53.610s. On the other hand, Siebert qualified seventh with his lap time of 1m53.633s and Baltas set to start from 8th producing a lap of 1m53.785s. Later in the race, Karkosik and Siebert kept in podium contention for the entire race and finally the Polish driver took the checkered flag in fourth place with his Argentinean teammate right behind in fifth place. Baltas came eighth and 3rd in class
On Sunday, Siebert posted the fourth fastest lap time of 1m53.016s with Baltas clocking a time of 1m53.945s. Karkosik’s best effort was a lap of 1m54.142s. Siebert held off his rivals and ran in fourth. The Argentinean driver attacked Cameron Das for third and finally took the checkered flag in fourth. Baltas’s recovery drive awarded him with seventh place and third Rookie and finally Karkosik ended up ninth.
The Euroformula F3 Open will head to Monza in three weeks’ time.
