Italian Pulcini scored a valuable win in the GP3 Series in Sochi and remains in fight for Vice-Championship honors. Laaksonen and Menchaca also ready to deliver strong performances in the season finale
Campos Racing and its three-driver line-up consisting of Leonardo Pulcini, Simo Laaksonen and Diego Menchaca will contest the final round of the 2018 GP3 Series season next weekend. The Yas Marina Circuit plays host to the season finale with Campos Racing expecting to complete another strong weekend of results.
Italian Pulcini currently lies fourth in the Drivers’ championship on 131 points. Pulcini’s performances throughout the season are being excellent and, after three podium finishes in Austria and Hungary, the Rome native scored his maiden win in the series at Sochi in dominating style. Pulcini is still battling for the Vice-Championship title ahead of Abu Dhabi.
Laaksonen, who is completing his first GP3 Series season, brought a fourth place home at Monza and collected points in the last three out of four races. Mexican Menchaca aims at a strong finish to the season after a few rounds where Lady Luck wasn’t on his side.
Yas Marina features a twisty nature and its anti-clockwise lap usually means a challenge for every driver as it’s not something typical during the season. The set-up focuses on traction, surely the key factor at the circuit. Besides, a good qualifying result leads to strong results as overtaking is quite difficult.
Saturday’s race 1 is scheduled at 09.30 (CET) with race 2 taking place on Sunday at 09.10 (CET).
