Brazil´s pilot ended 2nd fastest in today´s qualifying but he had to serve a five-place grid penalty from the last race. Leading the field during pit stops, Piquet Jr. finished 5th. Pic was forced to retire on lap one.
China Racing, whose cars are run by Campos Racing, has played a major role in the Formula E race held this Saturday in the streets of Miami. Nelson Piquet Jr. qualified second by setting a lap of 1:06.003, only 50 thousandths slower than the pole position time. But the Brazilian had to serve a five-grid penalty from the last race, so he started 7th on the grid.
Piquet Jr. was one of the the latest to pit, leading even the pack and rejoined the race in 9th place. He was able to overtake four other cars to bring home 5th place and collecting valuable points setting the fastest lap. Now he moves up to fourth place in the drivers´ championship.
Charles Pic had to retire on the opening lap.
