Suzuka will host the penultimate round of the 2018 World Touring Car Cup with Oriola and Filippi hoping to keep the momentum going
The 2018 World Touring Car Cup enters its hot phase as there are only two rounds left: Japan and Macau. The iconic Suzuka circuit plays host to the penultimate round of the season next weekend. The Japanese venue, with its characteristic figure-of-eight layout, is often described as an endless stream of fantastic corners such as the 130R or the Casio Triangle.
Team Oscaro by Campos Racing will enter its two-car assault for Pepe Oriola and John Filippi. Oriola is completing a strong Asian stage of the WTCR. In fact, the Spaniard finished second at the wheel of his CUPRA TCR car in Wuhan. With five points-scoring finishes out of six races in China, Oriola now ranks fourth in the Drivers’ standings on 217 points. On the other hand, Filippi expects to return to point contention after experiencing bad luck during recent events.
Saturday’s race 1 is scheduled at 11.45. Race 2 and race 3 will take place on Sunday at 11.05 and 12.30. All times local.
