Heidfeld (Mahindra Racing), still recovering from ligament injury, secured an impressive 7th. Oliver Turvey (NEXTEV TCR Formula E team) and Bruno Senna (Mahindra Racing) finished 9th and 10th in today´s ePrix in Argentina
Mahindra Racing and NEXTEV TCR Formula E team, who cars are run by Campos Racing in the FIA Formula E, earned new points finishes in the streets of Buenos Aires, where Round 4 of the fully-electric series was held. Germany´s Nick Heidfeld, with one of the cars entered by Mahindra Racing, was particularly impressive as he is still recovering from hand injury sustained in Malaysia and surgery was required.
In qualifying, Nelson Piquet Jr. posted 9th fastest time with his NEXTEV Dallara and a best lap of 1:09.931. His teammate Oliver Turvey was 11th with Mahindra Racing drivers Heidfeld and Bruno Senna 13th and 16th respectively. Brazil´s Senna crashed and his car was almost wrecked but Campos Racing mechanics made the impossible possible and repaired it on time for later in the race. “I offer my most sincere congratulations to our pit crew because they worked against the clock but finally Bruno had his car ready to go a few seconds before leaving the box”, Adrián Campos said afterwards.
After 35 laps, Heidfeld crossed the finish line 7th, moving several spots up in the closing stages of the race, including passing Robin Frijns. Behind, Turvey finished 9th with Senna scoring a final and rewarding point following his crash in qualifying. Piquet Jr came 12th with NEXTEV cars getting quicker in qualifying.
FIA Formula E´s next event will take place in Mexico City on 12 March.
