Jerez Circuit offers new podium opportunities in F4 Spain

Jerez Circuit offers new podium opportunities in F4 Spain

With the summer heat finally beginning to ease across the Iberian Peninsula, the battle for the F4 Spain title remains as intense as ever, with the Jerez Circuit set to host the fifth round of the season this weekend. All six drivers representing the Alzira-based team will be in action in Cádiz: Noah Monteiro, Vivek Kanthan and Ty Fisher will compete under the Griffin Core by Campos banner, while Jacob Micallef, Daniel Kelleher and Luna Fluxá will race for Campos Racing.

Four meetings have been completed so far and three remain, including this weekend’s event at Jerez. Noah Monteiro currently sits fourth in the drivers’ standings with 114 points and remains close to the front thanks to the five podium finishes he has secured in 2026. The Portuguese driver achieved a hat-trick of third places in Valencia and added another podium in the Algarve before finishing second at MotorLand Aragón. His consistency has been one of his main strengths, as he has scored points in ten of the twelve races held so far.

Kanthan made a strong start to the season by winning the Sunday race at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste. The American driver was unable to find the same level of fortune in Portugal and Alcañiz, but bounced back strongly at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama – RACE. There, Kanthan finished third, fourth and sixth across the three races, scoring a valuable haul of points that currently places him eighth overall with 70.

His teammate Fisher will be looking to continue that upward trajectory at Jerez. The Canadian endured a difficult meeting at the Madrid venue and will head to this weekend’s event aiming to secure the first podium that has so far eluded him. Fisher’s best results this season have been three fourth places and a fifth.

At Campos Racing, Micallef is one of the drivers showing particularly clear progress following the summer break. The Maltese driver, who is contesting his first F4 season, finished sixth and eighth in Portimão and had also secured a pole position before the summer. On his return at Jarama, Micallef showed renewed confidence and claimed his first overall podium in the category with a third-place finish on Saturday.

A podium will also be Kelleher’s target. The Irishman has shown clear flashes of his speed throughout the season, scoring points on four occasions and recording a sixth place as his best result so far. With further experience under his belt and the championship now entering its second half, the Campos Racing driver will be another name to watch closely.

Fluxá is another driver continuing to make steady progress. The Spanish driver scored her first points of the season at MotorLand Aragón and will head to Jerez looking to build on that progress and turn her continued improvement into further results.

In the teams’ standings, Griffin Core by Campos currently occupies third place with 148 points.

The Jerez Circuit has been a regular venue on the F4 Spain calendar since the category was created. Opened in late 1985, it is one of Spain’s permanent circuits with the richest motorsport heritage. The venue hosted the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix from 1986 to 1990 and subsequently the European Grand Prix in 1994 and 1997. Throughout its four decades of history, Jerez has welcomed some of the world’s leading championships, including the World Endurance Championship, F3000, FIA Formula 2, BPR, WSbR and GP3.

In its current configuration, the circuit is 4.428 kilometres long. The start-finish straight is not particularly long, although the braking zone for the Expo ’92 Corner can provide an opportunity for overtaking. The clearest overtaking opportunity normally comes after the Sito Pons corner, on the back straight leading towards Dry Sac. Turn 13, now named Jorge Lorenzo, is usually the final opportunity for a driver running in the slipstream to make a move before completing the lap.

The weekend schedule features two free practice sessions on Friday, at 12:10 and 14:50. On Saturday, the first qualifying session will begin at 09:00. Race 1, lasting 30 minutes plus one lap, will get underway at 10:50, followed by Race 2, scheduled for 14:00 and lasting 20 minutes plus one lap. On Sunday, the drivers will return to the track at 10:00 for the second qualifying session. The third and final race will start at 12:50 and will run for 30 minutes plus one lap. All the action can be followed live via the championship’s official YouTube channel. All times are CET.

Adrián Campos (Team Principal of Campos Racing): “We arrive at Jerez at an important stage of the season, with plenty of racing still ahead of us and all six of our drivers showing positive progress. Noah has been very consistent and remains close to the front, while Vivek and Ty have also demonstrated the speed needed to fight for strong results. At Campos Racing, we are particularly pleased with Jacob’s progress since the summer break, while Daniel and Luna are also continuing to gain experience and take important steps forward. Jerez is a demanding circuit where small details can make a difference, so our aim will be to work well from the first sessions and make the most of every opportunity across the three races. As always, we approach the weekend with ambition, but also with maximum focus and respect for such a competitive championship.”
