The 2026 Eurocup-3 season visited the Hungaroring this past weekend for its penultimate round of the campaign. GriffinCore Campos Racing fielded its four Dallara 326-Toyota cars and added to its points tally through Enzo Tarnvanichkul, Maximilian Popov and Thomas Strauven. Meanwhile, debutant Kabir Anurag enjoyed a positive first outing in the category, demonstrating quick adaptation and competing on equal terms with drivers boasting more experience in these cars.

Track action began on Thursday with the collective test sessions organised by the championship, giving drivers the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Hungarian circuit. During Friday's opening free practice session, Popov was GriffinCore Campos Racing's fastest representative, finishing fourth with a lap time of 1m35.960s. Anurag also impressed with his rapid adaptation, setting a time of 1m36.281s to claim sixth place. In the second session, Strauven became the team's leading driver, finishing sixth with a time of 1m35.588s. Popov was ninth with a lap of 1m36.007s.

Saturday's action began with the first qualifying session, which determined the grid for that afternoon's race. In a closely contested session, with much of the field separated by just a few tenths of a second, Popov emerged as one of the contenders for the leading positions and secured fifth place with a lap of 1m35.536s. Strauven qualified eighth with a time of 1m35.854s, while Tarnvanichkul narrowly missed out on the top ten, placing eleventh with a lap of 1m35.959s. Anurag, making his first qualifying appearance in Eurocup-3, took fifteenth place with a personal best of 1m36.191s.

The opening race, scheduled for the early afternoon and run over 30 minutes plus one lap, was marked by incidents. The opening corners at the Hungaroring can be particularly challenging when the field is running closely together, and Popov was among those caught up in the trouble. Following contact with a rival, he spun at the Hamilton corner and dropped towards the back of the field. Strauven initially climbed as high as sixth, but gradually lost ground as the race progressed, with his car also affected by the opening-lap incidents.

A Safety Car intervention with eight minutes remaining brought the field back together. Tarnvanichkul, who had been making steady progress throughout the race, took advantage of the restart to move up to eighth place, where he ultimately crossed the finish line. Strauven finished eleventh, while Anurag placed twelfth in his first race in the category. Popov, who had recovered more than ten positions on a circuit where overtaking is particularly difficult, eventually finished 23rd following a five-second time penalty.

The second qualifying session, held on Sunday morning, once again saw Popov lead GriffinCore Campos Racing's efforts. He set a time of 1m35.132s to secure eighth place on the starting grid. Strauven and Tarnvanichkul occupied the sixth row, posting laps of 1m35.378s and 1m35.423s respectively. Anurag qualified fifteenth once again, this time with a personal best of 1m35.518s.

The second race offered an opportunity to pursue a stronger result while avoiding the incidents that had affected Saturday's contest. In the opening stages, Popov, Strauven and Tarnvanichkul ran together between ninth and eleventh, with very similar pace. The race remained largely uninterrupted until lap nine, when the Safety Car was deployed after a car stopped near the track. Racing resumed on lap eleven, but the field was neutralised again two laps later following a similar incident. With marshals still working on track, the race could not be restarted before the allotted time expired.

Popov, Strauven and Tarnvanichkul consequently crossed the finish line in eighth, ninth and tenth place respectively, adding further points to the team's tally. Anurag once again completed a clean race, finishing fourteenth and bringing his promising Eurocup-3 debut to a close.

The 2026 Eurocup-3 season will conclude on 7–8 November at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
