Ernesto Rivera to Continue with Campos Racing in FIA Formula 3 in 2027
Campos Racing is proud to announce that Ernesto Rivera will remain part of the team for another season, competing in the 2027 FIA Formula 3 Championship at the wheel of one of its single-seaters. Rivera joins Salim Hanna, who was also previously announced as a new driver for the upcoming season.
Still only 17 years old, Rivera will continue to represent the Red Bull Junior Team, as he has done for much of his racing career. The Mexican driver claimed victories at the American SKUSA SuperNationals in the X30 Junior and KA100 Senior categories before making the transition to single-seaters in 2024. He made his debut in this discipline with Campos Racing, joining the Alzira-based outfit for the F4 Spain season. Rivera secured race wins and podium finishes in his first campaign with the team, ultimately finishing fifth in the overall standings.
In 2025, the promising Mexican driver stepped up to Eurocup-3, where he continued to showcase his considerable talent. Despite being a rookie, Rivera emerged as a genuine title contender, claiming three victories, seven podium finishes and two pole positions to secure fourth place in the final championship standings.
The next step was a natural one, although it also presented an even greater challenge: FIA Formula 3. After missing part of pre-season testing and the opening round in Melbourne due to an injury sustained during the winter, Rivera made his debut in the category on the iconic streets of Monaco. He immediately made an impression, finishing fifth in his first weekend in the Principality and scoring his maiden championship points.
His first victory would not be far away. Rivera triumphed in Saturday's Sprint Race at the Red Bull Ring, before securing his maiden Feature Race win at another legendary venue, Spa-Francorchamps. Later in the summer, he added a third FIA Formula 3 podium to his record with a third-place finish at the Hungaroring. The Mexican driver concluded his maiden season in the category seventh in the overall standings, while also playing a key role in Campos Racing's Teams' Championship triumph.
The first post-season tests will take place at Jerez on 20 and 21 October. The teams will then head to Barcelona for a further two days of testing on 26 and 27 October.
