China Racing driver, Nelson Piquet Jr., scored his second race win in the FIA Formula E and strengthens his lead in the drivers´ standings. García lost one minute during his pit stop due to a problem
The Moscow ePrix was pretty positive for China Racing, whose cars are run by Campos Racing, and its drivers Nelson Piquet Jr. and Antonio García. The Brazilian pilot arrived in Russia at the lead of the series and, after the second-to-last event, Piquet Jr. has managed to extend his series lead with only the final round to go, the double header in London.
Piquet Jr. qualified second on the starting grid, only 20 thousandths slower than Jean-Eric Vergne, who set the pole position time today. Lucas di Grassi, who was lying second in the drivers´ championship before the event, war 3rd-quickest. Antonio García, making his comeback to the series after debuting in Uruguay, was 13th but with points on sight.
At the start, Piquet Jr. passed Vergne into turn one and pulled away from the rest of the field. After 35 laps, Piquet has stormed to his second win in the series, two seconds ahead of di Grassi. García, trying to secure a points finish, lost one minute while pitting when neutral button was activated. It frustrated any chance to score points.
The final round takes place in London on June 27th.
