Argentinean Siebert brought a second place finish during Euroformula F3 Open’s race 1 at Monza, in which Karkosik finished sixth. Both Campos Racing drivers were forced to retire as they were involved in crashes
Campos Racing scored another podium finish to its tally during Round 6 of the Euroformula Open at Monza with Marcos Siebert and Alex Karkosik driving the two Dallara F312 cars. Both Campos Racing drivers showed competitive pace over the weekend despite they couldn’t made it to the finish on Sunday.
Siebert led the way for Campos Racing during private testing held on Thursday and posted the second-fastest lap time after two free practice sessions on Friday. Argentinean Siebert fought for pole position in Q1 but finally missed out taking first spot on the grid by 70 thousandths of a second. Siebert lined up second with his lap time of 1m46.223s. Karkosik clocked a time of 1m46.732s to start from eighth. Siebert ran in podium contention on Saturday and finally secured a second place finish with Karkosik sixth after gaining two places.
On Sunday, Siebert and Karkosik couldn’t put together a perfect lap in Q2. Karkosik qualified seventh with his lap time of 1m46.498s starting alongside Siebert, who took 8th on the grid with his 1m46.552s. Later in the race, and just after two laps, Siebert was already running in third and even moved up to second later. Unfortunately, Marcos retired following a collision with Leonardo Lorandi. Karkosik also retired from the race after being hit by Lukas Dunner. Karkosik had run fifth during several laps.
The Euroformula F3 Open will head to Jerez in two weeks’ time.
