Rosenqvist scored another pole position on Sunday and drove to second place in second race. Heidfeld finished 5th at season finale
Mahindra Racing Formula E Team, whose M3ELECTRO cars are run in collaboration with Campos Racing, finished the 2016-17 season in style delivering another brilliant performance in Montreal, where the all-electric FIA Formula E came to an end the last weekend. Sweden’s Felix Rosenqvist and Germany’s Nick Heidfeld put on another excellent weekend of racing with the Mahindra Racing-entered cars.
On Saturday, Rosenqvist took 5th spot on the starting grid with his 1:24.351 and Heidfeld lined up 14th with a lap of 1:24.769. However, the first race didn’t bring a positive result as Heidfeld was forced to retire following a clash with Loïc Duval on lap 15. Rosenqvist was running up front but made contact with the wall and, despite he still managed to take the checkered flag in 10th place, lost several positions.
Sunday was a completely different story as Rosenqvist grabbed his second pole position of the season producing a sensational lap of 1:22.344. Heidfeld emerged 4th-fastest in qualifying with a lap of 1:23.041. Rosenqvist and Jean-Eric Vergne offered a head- to-head battle for the lead and finally the Swede took 2nd on the podium crossing the finish line a mere 8 tenths of a second behind the Frenchman. Heidfeld finished 5th.
Rosenqvist took 3rd place overall in the drivers standings on 127 points – with one win and five podiums to his credit- and Heidfeld ranked 7th – with other five podiums to his name-. Mahindra Racing Formula E Team finished 3rd in the Teams’ classification.
The 2017-18 FIA Formula E season will kick off in Hong Kong on 2-3 December.
