Campos Racing kicked off the 2019 season in style this weekend achieving a motivating first win during the Euroformula F3 Open’s Winter Series. Sweden’s Linus Lundqvist won the second race of the weekend at the Circuit Paul Ricard with his Campos Racing-run Dallara car.
On Friday, which was devoted to private testing, saw Lindqvist and his teammate Alessio Deledda to make significant progress throughout the day. Lundqvist clocked a time of 2m00.372s to finish fourth in the timesheets with Deledda tenth.
On Saturday, Lundqvist delivered another strong performance with the young ace qualifying fourth with a lap of 2m00.113s what the fastest for a car powered by Piedrafita-built engines, and despite a small mistake. Deledda lined up ninth on the starting grid.
When the lights went out in race 1, Lundqvist lost two places but he moved up to fifth just in the following lap by overtaking Guilherme Samaia. Lundqvist ran in fifth place until lap 11, when the driver defending the Campos Racing colors passed Lukas Dunner for fourth. Deledda finished 8th.
On the reverse starting grid for race 2, Lundqvist started from third place and immediately managed to gain a place by overtaking Samaia. Linus ran in the Dunner’s slipstream until four laps to go. Then, Lundqvist made a move to take the lead from Dunner and secure his maiden race win in the series. Deledda crossed the finish line in 8th place this time.
