The Swiss driver, who made his World Touring Car Championship debut in Japan, will drive a Campos Racing-run Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 at Losail
Campos Racing will head to Qatar with Swiss’ Kris Richard driving one of their Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 cars at the Losail International Circuit, which will bring down the curtain on the World touring Car Championship. Richard made his WTCC debut in the Race of Japan held at the Twin Ring Motegi last October. Despite it was his very first outing with a TC1-spec car, Richard made rapid, steady progress and came seventh and eighth in both Japanese rain-marred races among WTCC Trophy contenders.
“I’m really happy to get this opportunity again. It’s good for promoting myself but of course it’s good for the experience and I really hope I can drive a TC1 World Touring Car in dry conditions to really try to prove what I can do”, explains Richard. He underlines that “the first goal is to get into Q2, the second to catch Tom Coronel because he has the same car as me and he’s a very experienced driver. After this I want to show some good skills, some good manoeuvres and have some nice fights. Of course I have to be realistic but a top 10 would be perfect for me.”
2015 marked the first time that the World Touring Car Championship raced at Losail. By then, Campos Racing already scored a podium finish in the WTCC Trophy. The track is 5.380 km in length, with a main straight of over a kilometer at 1,068 meters. The outdoor lighting allows night races and in this regard both races will take place at 21.20 (Opening race) and 22.35 (Main race), local times.
For the season finale, the RML-built Chevrolet cars will carry ten extra kilos as per results in Japan and Macau.
