Losail will host a World Touring Car Championship event for the very first time. In addition to the Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 cars driven by Hugo Valente and John Filippi, Campos Racing will enter a third one for local start Nasser Al-Attiyah
The World Touring Car Championship draws to a close with races 23 and 24 this Friday in Qatar, an unknown track for everybody on the starting grid: Losail International Circuit. Losail was opened in 2004 and staged mostly motorcycle events so far. For this first visit of the World Touring Car Championship both races will take place at night.
Hugo Valente and John Filippi will drive the same Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 cars used earlier this season but there are big news coming as Rally-Raid star Nasser Al-Attiyah will join Campos Racing for the season finale. Al-Attiyah, a local hero, is a two-time Dakar winner (2011 and 2015) and claimed WRC-2 title as well. Qatari driver will drive another Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1.
Chevrolet-built cars won´t carry any compensation weight in Qatar.
Free practice sessions will take place on Thursday, with qualifying to be carried out on Friday. On the same day, at night, both races will get underway at 21.30 and 22.40.
