The historic Moroccan town of Marrakech plays host for round four of the World Touring Car Championship
John Filippi and Campos Racing will travel in Morocco for round four of the World Touring Car Championship. Morocco isn´t a new venue on the calendar as 2009 marked the first visit of the series on the Moroccan urban track. But the Circuit Moulay El Hassan has been transformed from a street circuit into a semi-permanent race track designed by Hermann Tilke´s renowned architecture agency and built to FIA Grade II standards. As a result, its length has been cut from 4.6 kilometers to 3.
After three rounds at Paul Ricard, Slovakia Ring and Hungaroring, Filippi sits fourth in the WTCC Trophy´s driver standings on 29 points with his Campos Racing-entered Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1. Similarly, in the WTCC Teams´ Trophy Campos Racing lies third on 32 points. In Morocco, RML-built Cruze cars won´t carry extra compensation weight as per results of the events in Slovakia and Hungary.
Friday´s testing will serve as appetizer for Saturday, when two free practice sessions will be held in the morning. Qualifying, split in three sessions, will start at 15.00. Both races will take place on Sunday at 12.15 (Opening Race) and 17.15 (Main Race).
