Campos Racing got the first win of the season in the GP3 Series with South Africa’s Raoul Hyman converting his pole position into a lights-to-flag victory. Argentinean Marcos Siebert and Frenchman Julien Falchero also delivered good performances for Campos Racing over the weekend.

On Friday, Siebert emerged fastest with his lap of 1:19.703 in the free practice session. Hyman and Falchero clocked times of 1:20.004 and 1:20.598 respectively securing 8th and 15th on the timesheets.

The following day in the qualifying day, Hyman and Falchero lined up 13th and 14th on the grid with their 1:19.561 and 1:19.596 respectively. On the other hand, Siebert set 18th-fastest lap with his 1:19.832. In the afternoon, Hyman moved into the top 10 and finally passed the chequered flag in 8th to secure the pole position on the reverse grid. Siebert finished 12th and Falchero, following a clash with Niko Kari on lap one, came 15th one lap down.

Today, Hyman fended off pressure at the start and kept Giuliano Alesi at bay to win race 2, separated by less than a second. Siebert took 10th and Falchero finished right behind.

The GP3 Series will head to Silverstone next weekend.
