Local hero Guerrieri and Campos Racing aims to shine on home ground as the World Touring Car Championship heads to Argentina
After the rounds on European soil, the World Touring Car Championship now travels south west for the WTCC Race of Argentina, which takes place at the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo.
Campos Racing and Esteban Guerrieri are completing an extremely strong season with their Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1. After six rounds, Guerrieri sits currently 4th in the WTCC Trophy on 52 points. Similarly, Campos Racing lies third in the WTCC Teams’ Trophy on 57 points. With one win and four 3rd place finishes to his credit, Guerrieri is confident of continuing his run at his home round. Besides, he made his debut in the World Touring Car Champion at the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo bringing a sixth place home last year.
The circuit, which was built in 2007 in the eastern outskirts of Termas de Río Hondo, underwent a substantial rebuild in 2012 with a new infield and a shorter straight.
As per results of the events in Germany and Portugal, the RML-built Chevrolet cars won’t carry any extra compensation weight.
As usual, Saturday will be devoted to free practice and qualifying sessions, the latter scheduled at 15.00 (local time). On Sunday, both races will take place at 15.00 (Opening Race consisting of 11 laps) and 16.15 (Main Race consisting of 13 laps), local time.
