The driver of Campos Racing finished third twice in WTCC Trophy at WTCC’s Race of Italy at Monza last weekend
Campos Racing and Argentinian driver Esteban Guerrieri continued their run of strong results in the World Touring Car Championship whose second round – the Race of Italy- took place at Monza’s Temple of Speed. At the wheel of his Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 fielded by Campos Racing, Guerrieri challenged factory-backed drivers in the series, just like in Marrakech where he claimed win in the Opening race.
Saturday’s qualifying session saw Guerrieri clocking a time of 1:53.404 in Q2, 8th on the starting grid for Sunday’s Main Race and, with a reverse grid, fourth in Opening Race. Guerrieri had a good pace to challenge factory drivers and, after nine laps, he finished fourth overall and third in WTCC Trophy. In race 2 – Main Race-, Guerrieri drove to 8th but he clinched another 3rd place finish in the privateers’ classification.
By sealing another solid weekend of points paying results, Guerrieri continue racing for titles. He lies seventh overall on 41 points and sits third in WTCC Trophy on 25 points. Campos Racing sits second in Teams’ standings on 26 points.
WTCC’s round 3 will take place at Hungaroring on 13-14 May.
