The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya marks the start of the FIA Formula 2 Championship season on European soil. Ghiotto and Nissany look to repeat Baku performance as they were in contention for a top 5 finish
The FIA Formula 2 battle resumes this weekend with Round 3 of the 2018 FIA Formula 2 season at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Campos Veaxtec Racing is excited and motivated for its home round with its strong driver line-up of Luca Ghiotto and Roy Nissany. Ghiotto qualified fourth in Baku and moved up to third before retiring. Nissany was also running in the top five before retiring due to another race incident.
Barcelona is the first event of the season on European soil and Campos Vexatec Racing expects to change the course of the season as Ghiotto and Nissany already showed to have undoubted podium potential in the series. The Campos Vexatec Racing-run Dallara F2 2018 cars should be pretty strong contenders in Barcelona as the Spain-based team has an excellent track record in Barcelona.
Barcelona has a quite rough surface and it results in high wear and tire degradation. Besides, its layout requires high-downforce levels especially in the long Turn 3, which is a big right-hander.
Both free practice and qualifying sessions are scheduled on Friday at 13.00 and 16.55 respectively. Saturday’s race 1 is scheduled at 16.40 and race 2 will take place on Sunday at 11.30. They all are local times.
