The Azerbaijani track plays host to Round 4 of the FIA Formula 2 Championship and the duo of Campos Racing, Boschung and Visoiu, will be aiming to collect a good haul of points
The FIA Formula 2 Championship is entering the hot phase of the season as the series has four events in the coming weeks before heading off for the traditional summer break in August. Despite it will be a busy month for Campos Racing, the Spanish-based outfit is feeling optimistic and ready for the next race at Baku City Circuit, which takes place in the frame of the 2017 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Swiss Ralph Boschung and Romanian Robert Visoiu will make his debut at the track but, following a strong performance in Monte Carlo, the Campos Racing duo is determined to further improve and push as hard as they can through the weekend. Besides, they both carried out simulator training at Campos Racing.
The Baku City Circuit is famed as the fastest street circuit because it produces record top speeds despite its nature of tight, slow areas combined with long straights – in fact, the longest on the calendar-. Besides, only Spa-Francorchamps is longer than Baku’s 6.003 kilometers. Last year, the safety car was deployed several times and taking an opportunistic strategy call could be extremely rewarded.
Friday’s free practice and qualifying session takes place at 11.00 and 15.00 respectively. On Saturday, the feature race with mandatory pit stop is scheduled at 12.00 and the sprint race is due to start at 14.00 on Sunday. All times are local.
