Despite it wasn’t a perfect weekend the drivers of Campos Racing collected valuable points last weekend. Das made a good debut in the series
Campos Racing and its four-driver line-up continued in good form in the Euroformula F3 Open at Silverstone as they scored points at the weekend. Thiago Vivacqua, Matheus Iorio, Simo Laaksonen and series newcomer Cameron Das put in four good performances to set a positive tone.
On Friday, all Campos Racing drivers made it into the top-ten. Das made a good impression on his debut at the wheel of the Dallara F.3 car.
During Saturday’s Q1 session Iorio posted the 6th-fastest lap time with his lap of 1:52.440. Das and Laaksonen also secured top-ten places with their laps of 1:52.855 and 1:52.899. Vivacqua lined up 15th on the grid with his 1:53.197. In the afternoon, Laaksonen was forced to retire on lap 1 as his car was damaged after being hit by another rival. Iorio finished 7th after several hard-fought battles. Das performed extremely well at the end to take 8th place. Vivacqua also moved into the top ten at the end.
On Sunday, Iorio and Vivacqua took 6th and 7th spots on the starting grid with their laps of 1:53.317 and 1:53.353. Das qualified once again in the top ten with his time of 1:53.516. Laaksonen set to start from 12th with his 1:53.709. Unfortunately, both Iorio and Das retired on lap 2 after a collision. Vivacqua fought with Ameya Vaidyanathan and finally managed to beat him taking a seventh place. Laaksonen finished 11th.
Monza will host Round 6 on 30 September/1 October. Campos Racing will continue to work as hard as it is as a team to further improve their results in the remaining races.
