The Spain-based team will contest the inaugural FIA Formula 3 season with a three-driver line-up comprised of Alex Peroni, Alessio Deledda and Sebastián Fernández. The championship kicks off at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this weekend

The 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship will commence in Barcelona next weekend with Campos Racing’s title protagonists fired-up for racing action. The Spanish outfit will enter three all-new Dallara F3 2019 cars for Alex Peroni, Alessio Deledda and Sebastián Fernández in this exciting and competitive platform, which strengthens its position as a Formula 1 feeder series.

Despite the fact that Deledda, Fernández and Peroni are three newcomers, Campos Racing completed a positive preseason. Australian Peroni moves to the FIA Formula 3 Championship after a successful background in series such as the Formula Renault Eurocup or the Formula Renault NEC. Spaniard Fernández – as Campos Racing itself driving in front of his home fans- also showed strong pace in preseason testing and he looks like another driver with podium potential. Italian Deledda, who is making his debut on the international stage, will treat the 2019 season as a learning campaign.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with its mix of low, and mid to high-speed corners, make for a physically and mechanically taxing race.

Track action begins on Friday with free practice session at 09.15 (GMT+2) and the single qualifying session is scheduled at 17.50 (GMT+2) that afternoon. Race 1 will take place on Saturday at 10.15 (GMT+2) and the weekend will come to an end with Sunday’s Race 2 at the same hour.

Sebas Fernández (Campos Racing Driver): “With just a few days to go before our first race of the season, we have big hopes for the start! It’s also our home round and we will be race in front of our fans, so I really feel convinced that this atmosphere will help us to start on the right foot. We also expect that weather conditions will work in our favor to finish in the top-5 and secure valuable points. It’s also my first time competing in front of Formula 1 teams, so I will give my best to achieve a good result for my country.”

Alex Peroni (Campos Racing Driver): “I’m really excited to jump in the car this weekend for the first round of the championship at Barcelona. Testing overall went well and we are feeling good coming into the weekend. Going to be a big challenge but I’m ready for it!”
