The only Spanish team participating in the FIA Formula 2 will tackle another season in the Formula 1’s immediate feeder series and will also debut in the all-new FIA Formula 3. The Formula 3 will also run on the F1 support bill
Campos Racing will continue carving its path in Spanish motorsport in 2019, its 21st season on the prestigious international motorsport stage, and will be the only Spanish team in the frame of the Formula 1. In 2018 Campos Racing finished the FIA Formula 2 championship with two wins and four other podiums in the GP3 Series last year.
For 2019, apart from aiming to repeat the success in FIA Formula 2, Campos Racing will enter the new FIA Formula 3 with a three-car assault. The new series serves as the third tier of single-seater racing in the FIA Global Pathway. The Dallara F3 2019 cars will be powered by 2.0 L V6 aspirated engines developed by Mecachrome that was previously used in the GP3 Series. Besides, the Dallara F3 will use the mandatory “halo” cockpit device just like Formula 1 and Formula 2.
Campos Racing’s 2019 season will kick off in Sakhir (30-31 March), the season-opening event of the FIA Formula 2, before heading to Baku (27-28 April). The third round will take place in Barcelona (11-12 May), in which the FIA Formula 3 season will begin. After the iconic Monte Carlo round, devoted exclusively to Formula 2, both championships will come together again in Le Castellet (22-23 June), Spielberg (29-30 June), Silverstone (13-14 July), Hungaroring (3-4 August), Spa-Francorchamps (31 August-1 September), Monza (7-8 September) and Sochi (28-29 September), the latter bringing down the curtain on the Formula 3 season. The season finale of the F2 will take place in Abu Dhabi (30 November- 1 December).
Adrián Campos, president of Campos Racing says: “I am very happy to make history. We are the only Spanish Team at this level, so this is a reason to be proud. Last season we achieved many victories and the target for 2019 is to be competitive again.
We are in the right way and we have created a professional structure to be sure that the team will keep a unique environment to do all our best for helping the drivers to get their goals.
Campos Racing will be fighting to be again identified as one of the best teams in the prestigious FIA F3 and F2”.
Salvatore Gandolfo, CEO of the team, says: “Adrian and the whole team are doing a great job. Campos Racing is facing another exciting season ahead with two teams competing in the highest level of junior single seater. We have strong teams in both the FIA Formula 2 and the brand-new FIA Formula 3 championship, and with young and talented drivers that are hungry for success, we have everything you need to be among the top players in the championship. I am also very happy to welcome all main partners”.
