Hugo Valente and John Filippi, both full-season Campos Racing drivers in the World Touring Car Championship, have played a key role among the privateers at Paul Ricard, during a torrid weekend at the French track.
In Qualifying, Valente posted 6th quickest time of 1:30.133 during Q2. It is worth mentioning Valente was second among privateers, with only Tom Chilton faster than him, with another Chevrolet. On the other hand, Filippi, posted a time of 1:31.443, to start on the ninth row.
In Race one, Valente was battling with factory drivers but his car was with by Tiago Monteiro´s Honda, and it meant his race came to an early end. Filippi reached the finish line seventh in the Independents´ Trophy. Starting 5th on the grid for Race 2, Valente had a close duel with Tom Coronel, they both fighting for second in the Privateers´ classification as Norbert Michelisz had pulled away ahead. Finally Valente kept Coronel at bay to take another podium finish for Campos Racing. Filippi was 6th this time.
The WTCC resumes in Vila Real in two weeks´ time.
