Starting from pole position in Race 2, Valente made his way up to speed and into podium with second place. Besides, the French driver wins Independents´ Trophy. Filippi finished 5th and 6th among privateers

Campos Racing and Hugo Valente have clinched another podium finish in the World Touring Car Championship. Yesterday, Valente secured pole position for Race 2 with 8th-fastest time in Q2.

But before that Campos Racing driver delivered strong performance in Race 1. A tough fight for points was predicted and race would live up to the high expectations. Valente had a close battle with Rob Huff and Tiago Monteiro, with LADA and Honda factory cars respectively, and final brought 10th home, scoring one point for tenth place. Remarkable Valente took third place in the Independents´ Trophy stepping into the podium. His teammate John Filippi, with a second Campos Racing Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1, came 5th.

Then, in Race 2, Valente couldn´t defend his lead from Monteiro at the start but retained second place even after being hit by Yvan Muller´s Citroën. Muller was forced to retire when the bonnet of his Citroën opened but Valente still had to keep at bay Huff´s LADA and both factory Citroëns driven by Sésbastien Loeb and Ma Qing Ha. Last but not least, Valente took his fourth triumph in the privateers´ classification. Filippi crossed the finish line 6th.

The WTCC continues its Asian tour next 25-27 September at Shanghai International Circuit.
